The Agulhas and Somali Current Large Marine Ecosystems (ASCLME) project is supporting eight African countries in their efforts to collectively manage the marine resources on which their people and economies depend and are seeking a COASTAL LIVELIHOODS CONSULTANT
Applicants should have at least five years experience in the field of coastal research and management, or have at least five years experience in tourism information and management.
Knowledge and experience of the Western Indian Ocean would be an advantage.
A Coastal Livelihoods Assessment (CLA) project has been developed to provide information required for the development of National Marine Ecosystem Diagnostic Analyses, a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis and a Strategic Action Programme for the region.
The appointee will be responsible to oversee the collection and interpretation of all relevant information on coastal livelihoods including, inter alia, data on policy and legislation, artisanal fisheries and related activities, coastal tourism and general economic information.
This contract position is preferably based at the offices of the Project Coordination Unit, Grahamstown, South Africa
