Building Capacities in the field of Climate Change in the Republic of Serbia
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe along with Ministry for Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia has organized training for Governmental officials on “Climate Change Convention and related obligations” on April 23, 2009 in the premises of the REC CO Serbia. This training was one of the envisaged activities within the project: “Building Capacities in the field of Climate Change in the Republic of Serbia” financially supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The objective of the training was to improve the knowledge of the Governmental officials related to the UNFCCC, to contribute to exchange of the information and to improve cooperation among Governmental institutions. The training was organized to present scientific background of climate change and its relation with on-going negotiation process under the UNFCCC.

Jelena Cvetkovic, Minister Assistant and UNFCCC Focal point, MoESP and
Mr. Jovan Pavlovic, REC CO Serbia Director, addressed to the
participants of the training emphasizing importance of knowledge
improvement of the Governmental officials on Climate Change issues.
Lecturers Mr. Milan Dacic, National Hidrometeorological Service
Director, Ms. Danijela Bozanic, Head of climate change division of the
MoESP of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Matej Gasperic, secretary of
Department for Environmental Policies in the MoESP of the Republic of
Slovenia informed participants about the EU position within the
negotiation process under the UNFCCC as well as about activities of the
Republic of Serbia for the UNFCCC implementation and climate change
related activities in general.
More than 20 representatives of the relevant Ministries were
attended the training and actively participated in discussions.
The event contributed to exchange of information and improvement of
cooperation among Governmental institutions.
