Regional Training Workshop on Sustainable Use and Management of Coastal WetlandsThe UNEP/GEF South China Sea Project’s Regional Training Workshop on Sustainable Use and Management of Coastal Wetlands was successfully convened from 5th – 20th November 2007. This training workshop was organised by the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies of Thailand’s Mahidol University, and was led by the regional wetlands expert, Dr. Sansanee Choowaew. In addition to lectures and class room exercises, participants investigated the socio-economic aspects of coastal wetlands management through a variety of field visits and case studies which focused on: community participation in wetland restoration; traditional livelihoods; and wetland based tourism.
