The Paint for the Planet exhibit, featuring a selection of paintings showcasing children’s fears and hopes for the planet, was on display at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 14, in Poznań, Poland from 1 to 12 December 2008.
The exhibit was launched in October 2008 at UN HQ in New York to mark the start of the United Nations campaign "UNite to Combat Climate Change". The event featured a selection of paintings from UNEP's International Children's Painting Competition that represent a powerful plea from children for leadership on climate change before it is too late.

Climate change is the key challenge of our time
Climate change affects everyone. Its impacts are reaching beyond borders.
Addressing climate change is central to the work of the United Nations. Yet everyone has a role to play in reducing the threat that climate change poses to peace, security and sustainable development.
UNEP is a partner in the ongoing UNite to Combat Climate Change campaign. You can be too.
About UNite to Combat Climate Change
UNite to Combat Climate Change is the United Nations campaign to encourage civil society and communities around the world to unite and act now to combat climate change.
Whoever you are, wherever you’re from – there are many ways you can help combat climate change.
Countries around the world must agree on ways to cut their emissions and work together to fight climate change by boosting renewable energy, promoting investments in green technologies, conserving the planet’s natural carbon sinks and setting clear limits on emissions for industry and business.
The UNite campaign was launched in New York in October 2008. UNEP devised the campaign theme in close collaboration with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UN Communication Group Task Force and the Secretary-General’s Climate Change Support Team.
The Billion Tree Campaign and Climate Neutral Network (CN Net) are two examples of programmes linked to the UNite campaign.
During the Global Forum for Sport and Environment in October 2008 in Alicante (Spain), 100 sports organizations endorsed the UNite campaign, pledging to “approach their organizations and try to convince them to adopt and publicly declare a carbon policy, and to take the lead in promoting climate change issues among their audiences”.
