In recent decades various management approaches have been developed for the terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments in the Mediterranean basin. The Integrative Management Framework (IMF) is a comprehensive and operational methodology for the integrated and sustainable management of the Mediterranean ecosystems constituted by the coastal zones, river basins and coastal aquifers.
