The MedPAN South Project Mid-Term Report 2011 now available!
The MedPAN South Project is a 4-year collaborative project aimed at improving the management effectiveness of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the south and east of the Mediterranean and supporting the creation of new ones.
The MedPAN South Project is part of the Biodiversity Component of the MedPartnership. The overall development objective of the Biodiversity Component is to ‘maintain the long-term function of the Mediterranean LME through the use of an ecologically-coherent network of Marine Protected Areas combined with the sustainable use of renewable marine resources’. The MedPAN South Project is led by WWF Mediterranean, it partners with more than 20 national and international organisations to deliver an ambitious programme of support for the MPAs and relevant authorities in the 11 GEF-eligible countries of the south and east of the Mediterranean. At the halfway point of the project, there have been significant achievements and progress.
