2nd Steering Committee Meeting, Damascus, Syria, 15-17 March 2011

The 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the UNEP/MAP GEF Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Sea Large Marine Ecosystem (MedPartnership) will be held in Damascus, Syria, from 15 to 17 March 2011.

The Draft 2010 Annual Report will be presented with a view of informing the members of the Steering Committee on its structure, objectives, background and expected impacts. The report, prepared by UNEP/MAP PMU with the assistance of the executing partners, predominantly focuses on the implementation of the Regional Project in 2010, with a brief section on the status of the World Bank Investment Fund projects.

The meeting will be opened by Ms. Kawkab al-Sabah Dayeh, the Minister of State for Environment Affairs of Syria, by co-chairs, the President of the Bureau of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention (Morocco) and Ms. Maria Luisa Silva Mejias, the MAP Coordinator, and by Mr. Ivan Zavadsky of the GEF Secretariat.
