Having access to competent and reliable legal services is a bona fide essential need in a globalized world. This is especially true for an international organization with 35 independent member countries with their own individual laws and procedures. The OAS’ Department of Legal Services provides legal counsel on numerous issues, including the interpretation of normative instruments; administrative, budgetary, and personnel matters; internal regulations; contracts, treaties, and agreements. It also serves as the Secretary General’s representative in litigation.
