AREA ------------------------- Lower Mekong Basin DESCRIPTION ------------------ Mapping of irrigation Head Work location as of 2001 SOURCE MAP ------------------- Cambodia: - 1:50,000 scale topographic maps, UTM Zone 48, US series L7016 (1960s/70s) Laos: - 1:50,000 scale topographic maps Gauss reprojected to UTM Zone 48 Thailand: Various inculding project maps at various scales Vietnam: - 1:100,000 scale maps with supplemenmtary information from Sub Institute of Water Resource Planning (SIWRP) SOURCE DATA SET -------------- Cambodia: - 1:50,000 scale topographic maps, UTM Zone 48, US series L7016 (1960s/70s) Laos: - 1:50,000 scale topographic maps Gauss reprojected to UTM Zone 48 Thailand: Various inculding project maps at various scales Vietnam: - 1:100,000 scale maps with supplemenmtary information from Sub Institute of Water Resource Planning (SIWRP) SOURCE AGENCY ---------------- MRCS GENERATION ------------------- Union from 4 original datasets has been made by reproject from zone 47 in Thai part to zone 48 and from WGS84 of Vietnam delta part to UTM 48. STATUS ----------------------- Last update: December 2001 Completion status: 100 % COMMENTS --------------------- Cambodia: Proj_id1 and proj_id2 have been added as it appears some of the irrigation areas are served by more that one project. Temp_id refers to the original ID during digitising and should be eventually deleted after checking of data. Note: temporary notes used during digitising and should be eventually deleted. Area_id Not required as only 1 area per scheme. Proj_id1 and proj_id2 provided as in some cases not clear which area is linked to which project. Irrigation area is difficult to define in Cambodia and more work is required to improve the accuracy, and availability of irrigation area data. Temp_id and note are temporary information used during the digitising and should deleted after final checking. Laos: Follows LRIAD format. Irrigation area boundaries require further checking.Temp_id is a temporary ID used during digitising. Thailand: There is some overlap of the irrigation areas from the different agencies. To clearly present this information an additional field has been added Vietnam: Original units decimal degrees in Map Info Format. Reprojected to UTM 48 To represent the complete situation the data base shows all the blocks-the function of the blocks can be seen in the ‘proj_function’ field in ir_data.dbf. Each block represents an investment and must be considered as part of the overall part of the system. project_id Unique Project ID code as above Area_id NA Name Name of project as above Shape_area Gross area of polygon in hectares Crop_code Shows the main cropping in each block DOCUMENTATION ---------------- Operator: Consultant:Adrian Young, Irrigation and Inundation Expert, Consultant to LRIAD Project Ms. Manithaphone Mahaxay, Image Interpretation and Mapping Specialist, Technical Support Division UNITS ------------------------ Map Units: meters System: UTM Zone 48 Datum: Indian 1960 FORMAT ----------------------- SDE 9.x Point feature POINT ATTRIBUTES -------------- REF Running reference number MRC_ID MRC code C/V/T/L with the running number(ref.)
