FUNDS
FOR TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
The European Commission has granted €620
million for the assessment and construction of trans-European
transport network projects (TEN-T). Portions of the funds have
been allocated to rail projects and innovative and intelligent
transport systems, such as those concerning interoperability
in the railway or aviation sectors. The Danube corridor is also
included in this network, and the development of the TEN-T is
of importance for the future use of the river as a transport
means.

BEAVERS
RETURN TO THE SAVA RIVER
The Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental
Protection, with funding from the Government of Bavaria, has
reintroduced 30 beavers into the special nature reserve 'Obedska
bara' along the Sava River. This is the second successful reintroduction
of beavers, after beavers were released into the special nature
reserve 'Zasavica' in April of last year. The beavers were implanted
with traceable microchips for identification and monitoring.
Beavers were last seen in the area in 1903.
