| Integrated Water Management of Transboundary Catchments
- “TRANSACT" March 24-26, Venice, Italy Country borders rarely respect the hydrogeological limits of a natural catchment. The way a catchment is managed is determined by individual countries which rarely respect the interests or the legislation of their neighbours. These different approaches to the utilisation of a catchment may have catastrophic effects. The TRANSACT Project, financed by the EU, aims to develop an operational and integrated Decision Support System for optimal water management in catchments in borderland regions, in the context of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive. The mentioned conference aims to connect TRANSCAT with EU institutions involved in the process of implementing the Water Framework Directive.
