COP 8 RAMSAR

November 18-26, 2002, Valencia, Spain
Ramsar member countries meet every three years to assess the progress of the Convention, share knowledge and experience on technical issues. The COP 8 is organised under the heading "Wetlands: water, life, and culture". During this meeting four organisations of the Danube Basin will be rewarded: the Ramsar Wetland Conservation Award and Evian Special Prize 2002 will be assigned to Daphne (SK), Distelverein (A), Veronica (CZ), WWF International-Danube Carpathian Programme for the work at national level, and international level, to ensure sustainable use and conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the floodplains of the Morava and Dyje rivers.

UNESCO & Green Cross International: From Conflict to Cooperation in International Water Resources Management: Challenges and Opportunities

Constitutive Meeting of the Network of Transboundary Basin Organisations

November 25-26, 2002, Thonon les Bains, France
Following the last General Assembly of the International Network of Basin Organisations (May 2002) this Network of Transboundary Basin Organisations will be established. The objective is to enable the executives and the technicians of existing organisations to better exchange experiences, compare their approaches and methods and thus to facilitate the creation and strenghtening of new organisations adapted to transboundary basins.
