The purpose of the Micro Environment Grant (MEG) is to raise public awareness, knowledge and understanding of the environmental problems facing the Caspian Sea. The MEG will help you to finance the small-scale projects with a REAL impact to address urgent environmental problems through raising awareness on specific issues including erosion of biodiversity, decline of biodiversity, pollution, unsustainable coastal development and climate change implications in the Caspian region. MEG awards grants from a minimum scale of USD 500 to maximum USD 3,000. We will support projects in the Caspian Regions of Azerbaijan, I.R. Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan. The Caspian Region is defined as coastal areas and 100 km inland of the sea, and also includes the major tributaries. Projects not located in the Caspian coastal region but with a tangible impact in the region may also apply. Any group of people who has the capacity to raise public awareness is eligible. This includes NGOs, Schools, Community Groups, specialist groups, associations, trade unions and others. Application package in English is available at this link and here in Farsi.
The deadline for submission of the application is April 15-th, 2010.
We have already conducted three rounds of MEG projects whose summaries are available at MEG Project Summaries. For more information, please contact your National Civil Society Participation Coastal Advisor or the Project Coordination & Management Unit (PMCU) in Astana.
Now we also have MSGPII and MEG fliers available in Farsi.
