Accommodation

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Frobisher Inn, Iqaluit. To make your hotel room reservation, call +1 867 979 2222 (or toll free +1 877 422 9422). State that you are with the NCP AMAP Symposium to receive the special meeting rate of $199/night (excl. tax).

The Symposium arrangements include breakfast, lunch and coffee / snacks for the three days of the Symposium, and the Symposium dinner.

Travel

Daily scheduled airline flights serve Iqaluit, the capital of the Nunavut Territory from both the South and the West, with connections to all major Canadian cities and Greenland.

Canadian North and First Air, two of Canada's major airlines, operate scheduled service on the following routes:

  • Ottawa - Iqaluit (Canadian North and First Air, connecting to Toronto and major United States and European destinations)
  • Montreal - Iqaluit (First Air, connecting to Toronto)
  • Edmonton-Yellowknife-Rankin Inlet-Iqaluit (Canadian North, First Air, connecting to Calgary, Vancouver and major Asia and United States destinations)
For participants of the NCP/AMAP Symposium, First Air is offering a group rate on a return flight from Ottawa-Iqaluit and from Montreal-Iqaluit of $1405.25 CAD (including tax). Please include the name of your institute, address, work title, dates of travel and your fax number. A letter of invitation will be faxed to you and the original will be mailed.  Please start your visa paperwork early.

The Symposium will be based around a number of keynote presentations by invited speakers.

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentations and will be given the opportunity for short oral plenary presentations of these. Proposals for poster sessions should be submitted in the form of an abstract (max 300 words) to teh Symposium organizers (contact address below) by the deadline of 22 May 2009.
