Scope of work
Our vision is of an environmentally sound Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244), where citizens actively participate in efforts to achieve sustainable development. The REC field office was established in order to assist in the development and reorganisation of environmental civil society; to support the development and enforcement of appropriate environmental policies; and to ensure that the environment is taken into consideration during the process of transition. REC Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) focuses its activities in three main areas:
- Institutional support for efficient environmental management: capacity building of local authorities, NGOs and governmental officials; good governance practices and transparency; and the promotion of environmental democracy and the principles of the Aarhus Convention.
- Provision of information/education for civil society: environmental education and awareness raising; and the dissemination of environmental information.
